Traditional humanitarian organizations operating in high-threat areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan depend on expatriate security forces. A single security specialist can cost approximately $1500/day ($45,000/mo.), and most organizations employ security teams consisting of several contracted security personnel.

In Afghanistan we ACT as our own security force. Our personnel are well-equipped and trained to operate in remote and often dangerous areas. We have personally trained the Afghan security forces in the areas where we will be working. Money that would otherwise be used to hire security contractors will go directly to provide health care, education and employment opportunities to the Afghan people. This translates into several hundred thousand dollars every month that will go toward aid instead of security. That's a lot of much-needed relief that we believe will help develop long-lasting friendships between our nations and our people, which will ultimately help end the Taliban insurgency.

In the future, ACT will welcome physicians and other licensed health care professionals and education specialists to provide on-the-ground support. Please visit our website frequently to find out more.

Afghan Care Today is a non-profit organization that depends on contributions to operate. Every contribution helps and no amount is too small.
